The Planning Commission of the City of Los Angeles will hold a public hearing on the Interim Control Ordinance for The Oaks on Thursday, July 10th at 8:30 A.M. at City Hall, Room 1010 (200 N. Spring Street, enter on Main Street).
The hearing is open to the public and we strongly encourage all Oaks residents who are concerned about the pace and size of development in our neighborhood to attend. You’ll be able to listen and participate as the Planning Commission considers the proposed Ordinance written by city planners Kevin Keller and Blake Kendrick. If you wish to voice your thoughts on the Ordinance or on development in The Oaks, you may speak before the Commission for up to two minutes. Just sign up and comment.
The Interim Control Ordinance, developed by the Los Angeles Planning Department in collaboration with the Oaks Homeowners Association, sets temporary (one year) limits on the size of all new residential construction in The Oaks. The limits are based on Floor Area Ratio, the ratio of the structure to the size of its lot. The goal is to require that new construction very generally conform in size and scale to the neighborhood and homes around it, and to prohibit out-of-scale development.
The ICO is designed to calm large-scale development for a year while the Planning Department considers new permanent regulations on hillside development. The Ordinance could be extended for a second year, by City Council vote, but no longer.
