Most of the traditions of the Oaks Summer Picnic continue from year to year, but this year there was a new feature, Dandy Don’s Ice Cream.  Dandy Don’s served ice cream sundaes until Oaks residents actually ran them out of ice cream.  Gene and Kay Bauer had to share the last sundae, in fact!  However, the kids depleted most of it.

Through the Hollywood Beautification Team (HBT), beautiful healthy trees have recently been distributed for planting under the Million Tree LA Program.  Your Oaks Homeowners board was able to persuade HBT to bring trees on a truck for distribution to residents.  There was a two tree limit, and residents promised to plant and care for trees correctly.  Many picnickers took home two trees, the fruitless olives and pines were most popular. Thanks so much HBT!
