Dear Neighbor,

If you’re new to the Oaks we’d like you to know about the Oaks Neighborhood Association. We’re a non-profit organization made up of Oaks residents and dedicated to supporting the Los Feliz Oaks neighborhood of Los

Angeles, California. Our neighborhood’s boundaries are Fern Dell Drive on the east, Foothill Drive to the south, both sides of Canyon Drive to the west, and Griffith Park to the north. We’re here to help our community thrive: to provide forums where neighbors can meet neighbors, to advocate with our elected local and state officials, to work for general security and safety, and to promote and protect the natural splendor with which the Oaks is blessed. Above all, our intent is to bridge gaps and foster a feeling of community.

We’re a volunteer organization with no paid staff. The residents of hundreds of homes in our area pay dues to the Oaks Neighborhood Association. With that money we publish several online newsletters each year, hold live informational forums, meet with our City Council representative’s staff on a variety of issues, and organize multiple neighborhood events. Two years ago the Association celebrated an important milestone for the Oaks – the 100th Anniversary of our

neighborhood. To commemorate that anniversary we began work on the Oaks Digital Archive, an online repository of the homes in the Oaks -- their stories and the stories of the people who’ve lived in them. In addition to the Archive:

• We’re bringing the FireWise safety program to the Oaks neighborhood in 2026. FireWise is a national initiative that helps homeowners find guidance to reduce the risks of wildfire damage to their homes and neighborhoods.

• We’re working with our Council Office to create a new pedestrian sidewalk entrance to Bronson Park on the east side of Canyon Drive. Currently Park visitors on foot are forced to walk in the street to get to the Park’s playgrounds and hiking trailheads. We’re working on a safer sidewalk alternative.

• Through the work of Oaks residents who’ve formed PLAN (Preserve LA Neighborhoods) we’ve gotten the city to adopt more stringent enforcement of short-term rental violators and to rein in partyhouse abuse.

• We helped The Oaks and Bronson Canyon Improvement Fund with funding for the cleanup of the sidewalk at the north end of Canyon Drive and the planting and watering of new street trees along the walkway to Bronson Park.

We regularly bring residents together for community social events like this year’s Halloween Block Party on Park Oak Drive, the Holiday Party that’s coming in early December, and the Oaks Summer Picnic in Bronson Park.

These community events cost the Association between $8,000 and $10,000 each year (in addition to the time and effort Board Members expend to organize them). There are also attorneys fees and other administrative

costs as we work to address neighborhood issues such as party house violations, homeowner hillside erosion, parking problems, street and streetlight repairs, and other projects important to our residents.

Your dues make all these things possible. So please join the Association or renew your membership for 2026 today.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Your Oaks Neighborhood Association
