This is one Oaks Picnic you don’t want to miss! For the first time ever we will feature the world-famous Bob Baker Marionette Theatre puppets in a special performance just for us.  The Bob Baker Marionette Theater puppets are a Los Angeles treasure founded in 1963 and we are thrilled that they will be part of our picnic.  And, of course, we will have delicious picnic food, a bouncy-bounce, classic picnic games, ice cream treats and a raffle with great prizes.  The puppet show

Oaks Annual Meeting Sees Strong Turn-Out A record crowd of over eighty-five Oaks residents turned out at Immaculate Heart High School’s beautiful cafeteria for our neighborhood’s Annual Meeting on March 3rd.   Association President Kelly Lynch welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced our City Councilmember Nithya Raman. Ms. Raman noted the progress being made on the numbers of homeless people on the streets in Hollywood and answered questions about the homeless shelter

Many Oaks neighbors who attended the Annual Meeting in March 3 rd , asked if they could buy the nice green No Trespassing signs that they see all over the neighborhood.  The answer was yes, see our website, but they were kind of expensive as you needed to order them individually.  The Oaks Board voted to order a number of No Trespassing signs in bulk which we will now offer to our neighbors at our cost – which is quite a bit less than the cost of single signs!  Those signs ha

March 3rd at 6:30 Immaculate Heart Cafeteria

One thing we learned from last year’s January fires, is that fire season is a year-round threat in Los Angeles. And brush clearance needs to be a year-round job!    Brush clearance is critical for wildfire prevention because it removes fuel, creates a "defensible space" around structures for firefighters, slows fire spread, and reduces the risk from flying embers.  Click here  for information, resources, and more!  Be sure to document your improvements here.

Did you know that one of the most common ways homes ignite and burn during wildfires is by embers entering the home through vents?   During a wildfire, embers are carried by wind and can travel for miles, well ahead of the main flame front.
